The winter and spring proceeding the 2020 vintage had below average rainfall followed by very hot conditions in December during flowering, which leads to poor fruit set. Temperatures for the rest of the season were relatively mild, allowing the vines to recover. The below average rainfall also ensured low disease pressure. The Indian summer stretched from March through to late April so the weather stayed mild and dry throughout harvest, but crops were down by 15-20% of the long time average.
